It’s Easier Being Green at Firbank Grammar Curiosity Centre

Firbank Grammar Curiosity Centre

Studio Bright Architects had a vision for playful translucent green design elements at an elite Victorian private school that Danpal proudly helped Notion Group to deliver in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Reimagining prosaic external canopies into spectacularly vibrant architectural features, the external elevations of this new facility at Sandringham are enlivened and emboldened by a series of attractive translucent awnings enclosing the circulation space in front of the classrooms.

12mm Green Danpalon panels 900mm wide were used as part of roofing, façade and ceiling elements that were neatly blended together to form visually smooth semi-enclosed walkways. Detailing of the various junctions was carefully considered to ensure a refined appearance and roof systems were suspended below structural steel beams to minimise exposed framing elements.

Danpal systems are particularly popular on educational projects where comfortably diffused natural light is required over large areas. There are various options available that are strong without being heavy, expensive or complicated to install. Offering the perfect combination of attractiveness and practicality, bespoke Danpal solutions can be created for just about any architectural concept imaginable.
