Polycarbonate Shading Over Window Tinting
It might seem strange to cover a whole building in polycarbonate shades to protect against direct sunlight as opposed to simply using tinted glass. However, depending on a building’s design, adding polycarbonate shading can give your building a unique style that simply can’t be produced by window tinting.
Control Your Lighting
Depending on where a building will be situated, an architect may not need to worry about shielding all light all day. Window tints, however, are a permanent light-blocking solution. This can lead to a darker interior regardless of the source of light.
A polycarbonate shading solution, however, filters light from a particular direction, which allows for more interior light than tinting would otherwise allow. Additionally, with more customisable shade colours, the colours cast by the shade into the interior of the building can become part of your design, helping you create an immersive space.
You also have the option of Danpal’s Danpashade Umbra, an adjustable shading system that can be modified depending on the time of day or direction of light.
Greater Energy Efficiency
Fundamentally, glass is not a good insulator. As much as it allows voluminous light through easily, heat can easily creep in & escape.
Particularly in Australian summer conditions, glass absorbs the heat from sunlight, and that heat can be felt on the inside. This increases the cost of keeping a space cooled in summer, and reduces the overall energy efficiency of the building.
A polycarbonate shade, on the other hand, has significantly greater insulative properties than glass, which reduces the heat passing through the glass and into the building. This reduces cooling costs, while letting in more light than tinted windows.
Protect Windows from the Elements
During dusty storms & rainfall, windows get visibly dirty. Adding a window tint, however, makes that dirt more noticeable, so in order to keep your building looking clean, you’ll need to regularly fork out for cleaning.
However, a Danpal exterior shading system gives an extra barrier of protection from the elements, helping windows look cleaner for longer.
