At its most basic level, polycarbonate is a transparent thermoplastic. As a thermoplastic, it has an inherent ability to resist extreme temperatures, while also being significantly lighter & stronger than its closest alternative, glass. Its strength, light weight, and durability make it a popular alternative to glass for a number of reasons, particularly in electronic devices & construction.
