A Moment of Innovation for Shire of Manjimup

Manjimup Polycarbonate Roof

Clear Danpalon® Compact Roofing for Shire of Manjimup

When an ambitious plan by the Shire of Manjimup was almost derailed by the exorbitant costs associated with structural overhead roof glazing, Danpalon® Compact came to the rescue with an impact-resistant, self-supporting polycarbonate clear roofing solution offering glass-like transparency at a fraction of the price.

An ambitious plan by the Shire of Manjimup to enclose several hundred square metres in one of the town’s major thoroughfares was one of many elements of the Brockman Street upgrade, including the upgrade of services, road works, landscaping and street furniture.

The design brief required a large, lightweight roof with the appearance of clear glass. However, this vision was almost derailed by the exorbitant costs and timelines associated with structural overhead roof glazing.

Fortunately, Danpal came to the rescue with an impact-resistant self-supporting polycarbonate solution, providing glass-like transparency at a fraction of the price.

Danpalon® Compact delivered an impact-resistant, self-supporting polycarbonate solution for the Shire of Manjimup’s Brockman Street upgrade project, offering glass-like transparency at a fraction of the price required for structural overhead roof glazing.

Danpalon® Compact is strong yet lightweight and easy-to-install, used in conjunction with pre-engineered aluminium framing systems that offer convenience and longevity.

This clear roofing solution utilised 4mm clear Danpalon® panels with a structural spacer spanning about 2200mm. In fact, this particular structural spacer was engineered and produced specifically to suit this project’s requirements. This product innovation offered a framing system optimised to minimise installation time and material costs.

Danpal worked closely with the Shire of Manjimup and their Western Australian distributors, Advanced Architectural Products, to collaboratively resolve challenges relating to budget, logistics and compliance. Danpal’s Codemark approval and ability to arrange for certification of the Brockman Street project gave peace of mind to all stakeholders, as well as a visually spectacular result at an affordable price.

With the belief that inspired design can change the world, this project was a testament to the iron-clad promise that accompanies a Danpal partnership: a promise to collaborate with fervour and reliability, to design with intention and integrity, and to deliver the highest quality solutions available that transform our work and living environments for the better.
